Nirmalan holds over 27 years of experience in the IT industry serving in various capacities as Analyst Programmer, Designer, DP/ IT Manager, IS Auditor, Project/Program Manager, Consultant /Head of strategic Consulting, Chief Consulting Officer (CCO) and as a Chief Operating Officer (COO). He is currently working as a CEO/ Principal Consultant for KenVisa, and serves as advisory Chief Process Officer (CPO) for the clients. His experience includes working with more than 180 organisations worldwide, including many global brands and fortune 500 companies; covering several industry sectors such as Banking & Finance, Insurance, Telecommunication, Airlines, Garments, Manufacturing, IT Services, Software Development, and Education.

As a consultant he works for various Companies locally and abroad in the areas of development Management, Business/IT Strategy, Outsource Engagement Management/Advisory, Digital Transformation & Digital Marketing, Capacity Development, Policy Developments, IT Governance, Project/Program Management/Process Implementation, Business Process Reviews/ Audit/ Improvements, Disaster Recovery, Security & Control.

He is a seasoned IT professional with comprehensive business & technical skill set and certified expertise in Global Best Practice Frameworks & Business process, covering Software Engineering, Agile Project Management / Development, Application Management, IT / Service Management, Digital Transformation, Business Information Management, Project Management, Programme Management, Portfolio management, Change Management, IT Governance, Sourcing & Governance, Risk Management & Security, Control and Audit. He is also certified in the stated areas.

Nirmalan has over 25 years of experience as a visiting faculty for national and  private university programs (including from USA, UK, Australia etc) for professional exams, undergraduate and Postgraduate programs ( including 20 universities, 7 professional bodies and 7 Certification bodies:  covering 20 post graduate, 18 undergraduate , 11 professional programs and 7 professional certifications) in the areas of Business Information systems, Software Engineering, Information Policies, Project/ Programme Management, Information/Technology Management, IT Governance, Disaster Recovery, Security and Control. He has also involved in curriculum development and project evaluation, quality assurance, strategy formulation, exam setting and marking.  In addition, He has done many public workshops and corporate training programs for many MNCs in the areas of Project / Program Management and IT Service Management in Sri Lanka and abroad. He has also worked as a Visiting Verifier for City & Guilds (UK) in Sri Lanka and a Chartered Assessor for BCS(UK).

He is a fully authorized trainer by APMG, EXIN, PEOPLECERT and ISEB for many courses including ITIL, PRINCE2, SIAM, Privacy and Data Protection etc. He is the first ITIL Service Manager(V2) and ITIL Expert (v3) in the country, in addition, he is one of the very few people in the world who holds MOR, MOP, MSP, PRINCE2, ASM, SIAM, CISA, GDPR/PDPF along with ITSM and ITIL Expert credentials. One of the first to achieve the range of diversified credentials, ITSM, ITIL Managing Professional(MP), ITIL Expert, SIAM, MOR, MOP, MSP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, GDPR/PDPF, COBIT, CISA, SRE etc.,  in Asia. He is also one of the very few people who are authorized to train up to complete ITIL expert level, along with PRINCE2, SIAM, ASM and PDPF. In addition, he a Chartered IT Professional of BCS (uk). He works as an external on board Consultant/Trainer to many companies around the globe and also serves in Global best practices bodies as a contributor. In addition, has participated as a panelist in the global panel discussions as an SME.

 In addition, he has served in many Professional bodies and Industry associations in various capacities including The Computer Society of Sri Lanka’s (CSSL) executive council and as a Board Director, Hon. Secretary, Vice President, Chairman of the Proceedings Committee and the Project Director for SIG Initiatives of CSSL and in ISACA Sri Lanka chapter’s executive board as a Board Director, Membership Director, and Marketing Director for ISACA. Currently, he is an Executive Council member of British Computer Society (BCS) Sri Lanka chapter, Editor of the BCS Sri Lanka section Newsletter and Blog, Headed the B2B Engagement for BCS SriLanka section globally. Headed, the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) 2017 - B2B Support Committee, for Dhaka, Bangladesh on behalf of BCS SL Section in making historical achievements. He also Headed B2B Engagement Committee for Guangzhou, China in 2018. Also a member of the judging panel for the National Best Quality ICT Awards (NBQSA). Nirmalan represented ISACA Sri Lanka chapter in the ICT Agency's National CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) advisory committee.  Also represented CSSL as an alternate Director for ICT Agency. He is a Chartered fellow member of BCS (UK), and Platinum member of Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) USA. Currently he is the President of Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS) – Professional Consultants Chapter (PCC) and Director of the FITIS executive board. Member of the Advisory Panel and Judge for Digital Excellence Award of FITIS and a Key Contributor in the development of FITIS – SPAF (Software Product Assessment Framework).
